Memo web app — now with Markdown & Slack formatting

Update (4/6/2017): Pogo is now Memo!

Ever since we announced Pogo we knew that “bots are great, but some things are just easier to do with a graphical user interface”, but it took dozens of usability tests😱 and NLP research papers🤓 to deeply understand the limitations of conversational interfaces (“natural language understanding remains elusive”).

We’re still big believers in the potential Machine Learning to automate routine or repetitive work (stay tuned for more updates on that front👩‍🔬), but for a product like Pogo — a knowledge base for software teams (i.e. focused on productivity and efficiency), GUI interactions work much better than conversational interfaces today.

We started by rebuilding Pogo’s Slack integration with clicks and buttons, and in the last couple of months we’ve turned our attention to the Pogo web app. Here’s an overview of the the latest enhancements and features so you can get the most out of Pogo:

Save with Markdown & Slack formatting

Using Pogo in Slack is great for short notes, but sometimes you just need more space and flexibility. We’ve built a full-featured WYSIWYG editor that you can use to add Markdown formatting, @users, #channels and even :emoji:!

Link boards and items

Boards and items now have permalinks that allow you to link from one to the other. Use them to structure your items and to browse them seamlessly.

Multi-select

A faster way to manage saved notes, links and messages — select multiple items to move or delete them.

Filter by @author and #channel

Looking for that special item you saved in Pogo, but can’t remember the board? Try using @author and #channel to filter “All Items”.

This is just the beginning of a lot of exciting updates to come to both our web app and our Slack app, so stay tuned for our next update!
